Questions about the WOMAN Challenge registration form:

What do I do if my login from last year doesn't work?

To join this year's 2008 WOMAN Challenge you must register regardless of whether you participated last year in the 2007 WOMAN Challenge. Your login and password from last year WILL NOT log you in to the 2008 WOMAN Challenge. You must create a login and password for this year (however they can be the same as last year). We cannot save your data from year-to-year.

What is a session level cookie? How do I enable them?

Many web sites use "cookies" to help personalize a user's online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on the hard drive of a computer by a web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you. You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you will not be able to experience the interactive features of the WOMAN Challenge (i.e., logging in, tracking your activities, or participating on a team).

The WOMAN Challenge login mechanism places a session level cookie on users' browser to customize the page content. Session level cookies are automatically deleted when you log off or you are inactive for an extended period of time.

If you have session-level cookies disabled and you would like to enable them, find your browser in the list below and follow the corresponding directions.

Why do I have to answer a security question? What is it for?

If for some reason you cannot remember the email address you used to register or your password, we will ask you to answer your security question to verify your identity. When you answer this question correctly, your will be given your password or email address. Choose a question from the list of security questions that you can easily remember the answer to, but would be difficult for someone else to guess.

What is my verification code? What is it for?

The verification code is a random 5-digit number that is generated when you open the registration form. You can copy and paste, or re-type the number in the verification code field. We use this to help reduce "form spamming," where automatic form fillers submit bogus registration requests by repeatedly submitting web site forms.

Why do you need my address?

The WOMAN Challenge uses your address to mail Welcome Packets (on a first-come-first-serve basis) to you. We will also use this address to mail you a completion certificate at the end of the Challenge (if you choose to receive one). Your mailing address will not be sold or used for any other purpose.

What is a virtual route?

A virtual route is a map on the Internet that helps illustrate your progress throughout the WOMAN Challenge. "Virtual" means that you don't actually travel the route, rather you are moved along the route based on the physical activity you log on the website. You can choose whichever virtual route you'd like to map your progress. Feel free to choose the route in the region you live or any other route of interest for the WOMAN Challenge.

Are some routes easier to complete than others?

No. Although the routes appear to be different lengths, it takes the same number of points (16) to complete each route. Each route can be completed during the 8-week challenge if you meet your daily physical activity goals and log 5 out of 7 days per week.
